Star Trek Beyond - no spoilers August 3, 2016 2:54 pm mcfly

Director Justin Lin handles things well, especially the action sequences. The story itself isn’t bad, not at all…but imho the *way* the story’s told–the script, that is–is a letdown. Don’t get me wrong, there are some truly nice moments in the movie, but between those moments, things start to fall apart a little bit.

I’ve heard the 4th new Trek movie is already a go. I like Simon Pegg, I really do, but I’m glad to hear he won’t be among the writers for the next one. He said he was trying to create a throwback to the feel of the original series, but personally I think he missed by a wide margin. Of the three new Trek movies, I think this one is by far the weakest.
