A problem with reading Cheney's book. December 15, 2011 7:25 pm bowser

In a post below I promised to read Cheney’s book, “In My Time”, and I will.  A caveat I posted is that I will read it only if I can find it used.  As reading material.  Not used for anything else which might be tempting to folks.

The problem with that is that Cheney is such a systemic liar there is really no believing anything he says.  If he were in a court of law, the Judge would instruct the jurors exactly that way.  When a witness starts lying, anything they say can be called into question.

That is not to say Cheney doesn’t believe it.  One can talk oneself into believing anything, and I think he does that.  I also believe “the wish is the mother of the thought” which is another way of saying the same thing, only with a motive.

Anyway, Cheney will be interesting if only as a Conservative fantasy, actual dates and times with wishful thinking interspersed with some truths, half-truths and untruths in between.

Now that I’ve prejudged it, I’m looking forward to being pleasantly surprised.  If you find me proposing a farm subsidy for potatoes to replace America’s reliance on food stamps, with a smaller one on beans and rice in an attempt at cultural sensitivity, and tax credits on yachts and small jet airplanes to preserve America’s workforces in those areas, you’ll know I’ve read it and am impressed.

Arf

PS  Not ‘tax credits’.  They don’t pay taxes.  ’Direct financial incentives’ would be more accurate.  A Federally financed ’20% off coupon’ would be better.
