Not content with undermining the intelligence agencies and the Justice Department, Nunes and the House Republicans are now aiming for the State Department. Other potential sources of resistance are alluded to by Nunes, read the link provided. Keep in mind, these are not Deep State strongholds of Liberal resistance, they are agencies now under the control of Republicans appointed by President Trump himself. Apparently, they’re still not “Conservative enough” for his taste.
Coupled with the Trump stacking of the Federal Courts, his assault on the national election apparatus, his emasculation of the regulatory agencies, and his discrediting of the press, academia and the media, this suggest Trump’s second year in office is beginning with a coordinated attack on any institution that might conceivably cause him trouble in the future.
Again, consulting our dog-eared and faded map of a previous fascist campaign against democratic and constitutional government, please refer to the chapter titles of Shirer’s Book Two of “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”: “Triumph and Consolidation”:
The Road to Power: 1925-31
The Last Days of the Republic: 1931-33
The Nazification of Germany: 1933-34
Life in the Third Reich: 1933-37
The last chapter will give you some idea of what life in the Trump Reich will be like. If you want a preview of Trump’s second term, or his chosen successor’s program, I recommend Book Three of “Rise and Fall”: “The Road to War”.
