Well Folks, the ship’s been through an upgrade, Robert the designer-engineer, has added and or modified our little spaceship and once again handed us the keys. It’s a Win-Win thing – much as I loathe the term – for he builds the best ships and we are his test pilots.
Robert handed me a master key, of sorts, that opens all kinds of control panels. I need y’all’s help in figuring it out. Soon as I sort out how to work some things, I want to extend permissions to those willing to fix up the place, as moderator/editors.
Then, I want to examine and change the access to the various boards. I have always maintained that the Space Science Board be open without registration to all who wish to post, so long as the post is within our moderation standards for the Space Science Board, as it was founded more than a decade ago, as stated out on the front page.
We’ve never had a big problem with an open board back in the day. Maybe things have changed. The only moderation problems since we left the Nexus Interface have been the spammers who relied on the fact that new comments did not jump to to top of the page. Otherwise, the interface and registration has discourage new participants on the Space Board. If it gets weird, we’ll evolve.
I feel the same about all the other boards except Community.
But it’s not up to me, of course. It’s up to the few of us left to chart where this New And Improved Habitable Zone goes.
