Arlo Guthrie sings January 30, 2012 11:22 am TB

His father, Woody Guthrie, died of Huntington’s Disease, a hereditary thing. When I first knew about Arlo Guthrie (back in the “Alice’s Restaurant” days) he was hanging under this sword of Damocles. Someone told me his odds were 50-50 (don’t know if that’s accurate).

It tickles the hell out of me to see him as a healthy old fart, still singing. Sometimes you win one.

It also tickles me that he’s a registered Republican, although to be fair, from the Ron Paul libertarian wing. All the real hippies were libertarians.

  • Fearing the authorities doesn't make you a libertarian. Or maybe it does? Is that the common thread? by alcaray 2012-01-30 23:46:54
