I watched the anniversary show last night. Amazing how they justify the idiotic programming they are pushing these days.
They never once mentioned the 2 hour WWE Friday Night Smackdown. It was like it does not exist. As for the high volume of idiotic reality shows, they point to the major networks also being unable to produce the quantity of programming needed without reality shows. They went all out justifying the slapstick comedy they are injecting into supposedly dramatic productions.
I can understand a few reality shows and some like Face Off are watchable. The majority of them are just stupid appealing to the lowest common denominator. I also don’t mind some humor in a show like Eureka but does it have to be in the style of I Love Lucy. Don’t get me started on the paranormal crap they are promoting.
A couple of new shows are upcoming that might be worth checking out. Defiance sounds interesting. It is about Earth after a war with aliens that was fought to a stalemate. Earth is partially terraformed for the aliens and brush fire fighting continues among mixed factions from various city states. Continuum is a Canadian time travel series that has been broadcast in Canada but will be new for us Yanks. Reviews are pretty good so it might be worth my time.
