Can you still build a decent website with HTML October 1, 2017 11:20 am RobVG

I built a few websites both academically and as a hobby using HTML4. That was well over 10 years ago.

The company I work for would like a website but they don’t really need it to drum up business. They need to provide information to their employees of which there are 35 of us.

I see a typical reverse 7 with photos of what we do and useful information for consumers.

We need a username and password protected login for employees for them to access private company information. Can this be done with HTML? Would there have be an associated database to store this login info? Can it be done with HTML or would the site need to connect to something like an Access or SQL database?

And what about search engine optimization? Are the other web languages better suited for it? We might need an online presence for the next time a recession hits.

I’m asking because I don’t want to waste my time if the work is outside of my pay grade, but I don’t mind cracking the books I have and going online if it’s something I can do.
