This is an extraordinarily bad idea…

There are 3.2 million teachers, so he wants to to create a new armed force with nearly as many people as there are police…

He wants to pay these ‘elite’ 640,000 a bonus to carry a gun- this when teachers have to spend their own money on school supplies…

How will they be trained? How will they be selected? How will the weapons be safeguarded? Will they be trained in SWAT tactics? Will they be trained as a unit, or will they just set loose a dozen or so lone gunmen armed with pistols in a school to hunt a lone gunman with an AR-15 and just assume it will all work out?

In police shootings, police hit their intended target ~%34 of the time- do we expect social studies teachers will do better? Where do the stray %66 of the bullets go in a school full of kids?

Won’t having a few dozen panicked civilians running around with guns complicate police response?

Earlier I posted a series of links of the mishaps that have already occurred due to armed teachers accidentally firing or misplacing their weapons in the very few schools foolish enough to try this… multiply that by a few thousand and what will the body count be?

Off the top of my head I can think of several teachers I had with serious anger issues, they would be the first people to want guns and the last people who should have them- will there be ANY attempt to weed people like that out?

Finally, have we lost all sanity? We would rather turn our kid’s schools into free-fire zones rather than put sane gun policy into place?
