The Perseids are on Saturday Night Live August 11, 2018 9:34 pm ER

Its summer, SNL is still showing re-runs.

The musical guest, some country dude in a ridiculous ten-gallon hat is on stage, telling us how we will get past this tragedy, Americans have spirit, they will pull together, we will overcome this, together. Funny, they usually don’t lead off with the Musical Guest. It must be on account of The Tragedy.

What tragedy? I don’t know how old this re-run is, and I don’t know which tragedy he’s talking about. Yet another school shooting? The Las Vegas sniper? Damn, they’re coming so often and so fast now I don’t even know which one is which.

The other TV is on in the living room, the old lady is watching Austin City Limits and there are some righteous blues licks going down. Do I want to watch that, or stick with SNL? Gal Gadot is guest host tonight and she looks like a fucking million bucks–the girl has a set of wheels on her that just will not quit, and a little black cocktail dress that would stop traffic…but I’ve already seen this one, its a repeat…

Maybe I ought to just go out and look at the Perseids. Its midnight and they should just be starting to heat up about now. When I went out earlier to take out the garbage Mars was on the meridian, I’ve never seen it so bright and so red. And there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Its going to be a good night, and I’ve got nothing scheduled for tomorrow. Jupiter and Saturn are both up, too. If I wasn’t so lazy I’d set up the ‘scope….But I’ve seen Mars and the Perseids before too. Just another repeat.

Nah, I’m too tired. I think I’ll just go to bed. I just thought I’d tell you about it before I turned in.
