Is Russia expecting to benefit from global warming?

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/02/240221213839.htm

Being further N, Russia will be cooler than most of the world, but still warmer than it is now. It will have access to ice-free Arctic seas, will have a very long (due to its latitude)
growing season in summer, and will have plenty of river water for irrigation and hydro power, as well as for barge transport. Its competitors will be in the heat belt, and Russia plans to have control of Ukrainian cereal production. Siberia’s vast mineral, petroleum and timber resources will be ripe for exploitation.

Since the rest of the industrial world will be suffering from collapsing economies and domestic strife (decreased greenhouse gases), Russia will have little incentive to give up its fossil fuel economy. Russia’s entire military, political and economic posture is geared to exploit the coming climate emergency. I don’t think they can be counted on to help combat climate change.
