“Girl From the North Country”
Great Performances, PBS — played tonight here in Florida.

Normally I’m not much of a fan of Broadway-type musical theater, but there are some exceptions; Cabaret and Jesus Christ Superstar come to mind. But this production is really good drama with some terrific performances by a cast of (to me, anyway) unknowns. The music is a collection of Bob Dylan songs, the plot has been fashioned to fit around them. Somehow, it works.

Check out the cast. Good acting and beautiful voices, from plain, ordinary, natural- looking people of all ages, races and genders. No Hollywood Glam, no showbiz kids, just seasoned character actors and singers.

Like I said, very highly recommended.
