Gavin Newsome has been on fire the last few months, and has positioned himself as the clear front runner for the Democrats at this very early stage.
Newsome has announced projects to help eliminate homelessness. CA has half the nation’s homeless population for two reasons: favorable weather, and policies in many states where judges offer homeless people the option of jail or bus tickets to CA. Homeless people in other states are even provided with pamphlets telling them how to apply for state assistance once they arrive in CA! The CA Governor has announce six new projects on state land to provide affordable housing, issued executive orders to streamline the building of accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and announced $56 million in grants to help young adults leaving foster care secure housing. He has also sued the Trump administration over cuts to homeless housing funding.
On the environment Newsome has unofficially represented the US in the COP30 climate talks in Brazil, where he criticized Trump for withdrawing from international climate efforts. He has also said he will block Trump’s announced plans for oil drilling off the California coast. Newsome has long been a leader in fighting Climate Change both in CA and with international agreements.
The success of Prop 50 has boosted his national prominence in a big way, and showed he is not afraid to take risks, as a failure would have hurt his political profile. His team has also engaged in an amusing and ongoing public attacking of Trump using the orange imbecile’s own style of rhetoric against him. Hilariously, Trump’s defenders say Newsome is inauthentic trying to “copy” Trump. Newsome is TROLLING Trump. He’s MOCKING him and showing how ridiculous he sounds. Newsome’s team only does that when addressing Trump, while Trump acts like that to everyone.
