Not a good idea with the Middle East what it is right now. The function of the reserve is to replace supplies that have been shut off, not to bring gasoline prices down to a more “electable” level.

Another factor: the current value of the oil in the reserves is three times what was paid for it. It will have to be refilled at current prices.
